When reading Information Overload and What You Can Do About It
I found the statistic interesting that knowledge workers spend less than 5% of the day on thought and reflection. That is about 20 minutes. Some days that feels very accurate. It can be hard dealing with constant interruptions. It makes you wonder what the designer of cubicles was thinking. I couldn’t imagine getting any work done if I had to work in that kind of environment.
The girls recently learned about women getting the right to vote. To me it’s hard to imagine that such a basic right was denied to an entire section of the population. The same thing holds for marriage equality. Why has is taken so long for this day to come? It is telling that standing up for civil rights is a revolutionary action. Kudos to the politicians who stood on the side of love.
This is a slightly different version of the presentation I did at the 2011 SUNY Technology Conference on Tuesday. I was very happy with the presentation and had a great time at the conference!
This episode of Tuesday Tunes I thought I’d highlight different versions of the same song – Angel of the Morning.
performed by The Pretenders – this is the version I always knew as being “the” version
performed by Chip Taylor – I was surprised to find out that Jon Voight’s brother wrote this song among others
performed by Shaggy – I really like this interpretation of this song
And as an added bonus, just in case you thought the bass line in Shaggy’s version sounded familiar but couldn’t place it – The Steve Miller Band’s The Joker.
