I meant to post this last week, but never did. So it is slightly out of date since it is referencing the fourth of July. I got this email from Senator Cathy Young (who still hasn’t responded to my negative letter BTW) and it made me do a double-take. Here is the best part:

This past weekend Americans celebrated Independence Day.

More than simply a weekend of fun, this is our national celebration of the ideals our Nation was built upon… life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness…as eloquently stated by Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence.

Just as our forefathers did over 200 years ago, the new bi-partisan coalition government<, established in the New York Senate on June 8th of this year>, struggles against the oppressive policies that have made New York State one of the highest taxed states in the Nation.

Wait, did she just compare the farcical clusterfuck that occurred to sooth Golisano’s bruised ego to the Declaration of Independence? That is just scary. And yet strangely comical. I’d love to see someone do a comic with a King’s representative being too busy sending carrier pigeon messages (would that be the 18th century equivalent of a blackberry?) and that setting off the writing of the DoI. :)
