And while I often disagree with Gov. Paterson I found this story amusing.

So, this past week I have prevailed over our kitchen drain. It had gotten so bad that the dishwasher overflowed and made quite the mess to clean up. But we managed to clear that without having to call a plumber in. However, my fight with my guitar did not end as pleasantly. I brought it in to get repaired today. The fact that I wasn’t able to fix that myself really irritates me more than had we had to call a plumber in. I mean afterall, I consider myself a guitarist so why can’t I get the bridge of my guitar to adjust properly. At least I can be consoled that I am not the only person who has difficulties with floating bridges. It seems to be a fairly common problem.

The details, should you be interested, is that I have an electric guitar with a Floyd Rose floating bridge. Apparently when you change the strings you have to be really careful not to get a diffeerent gauge string and you shouldn’t take all the strings off otherwise the bridge gets horribly unbalanced. Well, I did not know this, and I am guessing I messed up on both counts. I must have put a different gauge string on and I took them all off and then put the new ones on. This has been an ongoing issue and I have not been able to get the bridge balanced even after weeks (on and off) of fighting with it. So today I brought it in to have it professionally set. Oh well.

In other news, gas is $2.15 a gallon now and the temperature is in the 30′s today. Apparently Mother Nature didn’t get the memo that Spring started. It was in the 50′s and 60′s a few days ago, and last night we had crazy winds that brought in the cold.

Today marks the deadline for New York State to pass it’s budget on time. There is not a lot of good will being generated with this budget, although I find it interesting that the Rebulicans are complaining that the budget was created without their input when in the past the roles were reversed. I think the Republicans, whether nationally hoping that Obama fails or locally doing everything they can to derail the Democratic majority in New York, are doing themselves, the State, and the Country a great disservice. We’ve been under a Republican regime for 8 years, let’s give the Democrats a chance to undo the damage.

Here are some links for more information about the budget:

The internet is always a nightmare on April Fools Day. But there are usually a few things to chuckle at. Such as:

  • Tauntaun Sleeping Bag – Think Geek usually has some amusing items for April Fools Day, but this is too awesome! :)
  • Yahoo Ideological Search – Why bother with reading opinions of people who don’t agree with you? I thought that was one of the things the internet was for?
  • Super Eco-Friendly Business Card - For when you have to laugh at how ridiculous parts of the green movement are getting.
  • FreakingHugeURL – I’m not sure if this is strictly an April Fools Day thing, but it is a nice jab at TinyURL and all the other URL truncating services that send you to who knows where.

Also, I always enjoy The Simpsons telling of the origin of April Fools :D
