An Amherst man was arrested this morning and will be charged with the fatal hit-and-run accident in Buffalo on Wednesday night that killed a young mother and injured her young son (via).
Sorry for the profanity that follows, but this kind of shit pisses me off….
This kind of lack of civility on the roads is all over. Even in little Fredonia, or maybe moreso, there seems to be a complete disregard for the rules of the road. People seem to think that yellow means floor it. There was a car stopped and this person chose to speed up and pass them even though the light was red. And he was driving unlicensed, uninsured, and drunk. What kind of thinking leads to such a string of anti-social behavior? Is this a product of the everyone’s special mentality? Is he so fucking special that the laws don’t apply to him and he can kill a little child’s mother as that child watches?
I’ve witnessed similar behavior here, although fortunately without the horrifying consequences. The worst was when a pickup driven by a grizzled old man went to pass a car that had legally stopped for pedestrians (me and my family) crossing the street. Luckily he saw us and stopped. But it made me furious. We were far enough across the street that the girls and Karen would have been OK, but I might have been hit if he didn’t stop. The most common act of assholery on the roads is people who think that right on red gives them some kind of fucking free pass to ignore all other rules of the road. The worst is our main intersection. On my way to work there is a left turn arrow, but if there is someone in the opposite direction making a right it is almost always a near miss as I turn legally and they turn illegally. How much of a rush are people in to be such assholes? Slow the fuck down America!
