This is an accoustic cover of OutKast’s Hey Ya by Obadiah Parker. I decided to put this up because not only do I like the song (both the original and the cover), but I enjoy alternative cover versions of songs. I think my favorites are punk versions of pop songs, followed by bluegrass versions of rock songs. I’d love to hear early Madonna done in bluegrass. :) Of course traditional accoustic versions of songs whether they are by the original artist or not are usually pretty good as well. For some reason I remember a lot of the hair bands I listened to in the late 80′s early 90′s did this a lot. There would be the full electric version and the mellow accoustic version. I think Bon Jovi did this first with their accoustic version of Wanted Dead or Alive, which eventually led to MTV’s UnPlugged which was a show I enjoyed back in the day.

Oh, here’s the original too, just for reference:

We woke up to our first snow of the season this morning. Not a lot, but enough for Bella and Gilli to make snowballs and snow scultpures. :D

Today was Erin’s dedication at our church. It was a very nice ceremony and I was so happy that our family and friends were able to be a part of it. :D

Here we are with Rev. Terry:

Here’s a shot with Erin and her Grandfathers:

Here are Erin’s Godmothers singing to her:

Erin got to meet Grandpa Charlie briefly yesterday and then got to visit more today along with visiting with Grandma Cathie and Grandpa Lenny. Everyone is up for Erin’s dedication tomorrow. Unfortunately after a week of beautiful spring-like weather this weekend has been chilly and rainy.

Erin took her first official steps this week! :D Of course, she doesn’t like to show off for me, only for her sisters and Mom but since I was home sick for a couple of days I did manage to see a few steps. ;) I haven’t been able to get it on video yet, but I imagine I will soon. It’s amazing to see her standing up and taking steps, I can’t believe she’s getting so big already! :D

John McCain did not post his concession speech on his YouTube channel yet. However, it is available so here it is. I thought he was like the McCain from 2000 in his concession speech. He seemed genuinely embarrassed by the more vocal people in the audience and seemed not only gracious but supportive. Ironically, this was the John McCain that could have won it.

Then there was Barack Obama’s acceptance speech. What an inspiring speech that was. Watching it live last night was very emotional. I am glad to see it posted so it can be viewed again.

I just finished watching President :D Obama’s acceptance speech. What a wonderful speech and a wonderful moment in time!! :D I am so relieved and excited about this!!! I don’t think I’ve ever felt so inspired by a politician before. I can’t wait for him to take office and I hope that we can have some positive change soon!

With 100% precincts reporting Obama has won Chautauqua County with 343 more votes than McCain. :D

I am actually surprised he won here in New York’s own slice of Appalachia, but it was really close! Talk about every vote counting, there are probably 344 Republicans in this county who are kicking themselves for staying home!

Go Obama!!
