With 100% precincts reporting Obama has won Chautauqua County with 343 more votes than McCain. :D

I am actually surprised he won here in New York’s own slice of Appalachia, but it was really close! Talk about every vote counting, there are probably 344 Republicans in this county who are kicking themselves for staying home!

Go Obama!!

I first heard Social Distortion when my friend Wil gave me one of their CD’s. I really like this song. It is a very melodic punk song, something we tried with Cheese Log but it never quite worked out. I could never do the backing vocals in pitch, oh well. So Wil, and Mark, this one is for you. I miss you guys! :)

I don’t know if Obama actually has a theme song. If he does it wasn’t as catchy or as played as the one from yesteryear. Anyway, I really like this song regardless of past association. :D

Karen, the girls, and I went to vote after I got out of work tonight. I was voter number 494, which is a higher number than some years, so I guess turnout is pretty good. :D

Check the Chautauqua County Election Results.

Today marks the end of this long and weary race for the White House. While I have some anxiety about this, I am hopeful that after eight years this country will be ready for change. And in reality there is nothing I can do about it now other than cast my vote. Whether Obama or McCain is President-elect tomorrow remains to be seen. I know that I hope to go to bed tonight knowing that Obama will be our next President, but I fear that I will wake up to find that is not the case.

However, at this time I am feeling most anxious about the state of the New York budget. Gov. Paterson has called a special session for 11/18 to rape and pillage the services that NY needs. I find it reprehensible that they waited until after election day to meet. This is a subversion of the democratic process. Had they met at the end of October the voters could have registered their approval or disapproval with their votes. Now, regardless of the extent of the pillaging we the people have no recourse.

So I urge all New Yorkers to let your voices be heard. Contact your representatives. Contact the Governors office. Let them know that cutting SUNY is the wrong decision.

STOP SUNY BUDGET CUTS!
