So I tweaked my theme slightly. I did not like that it used a lowercase transform, so I removed that. I also added the author and category to the bottom of the post and I changed the way the date is displayed. Not too much work required for what I think is a nice look.

I read this post and thought that it might be fun to walk down pop-culture memory lane with the last decade I can actually do this with. It’s funny, but even though the aughts (00′s?) are almost over I really have no clue about much that happened in pop music. I can think of a few reasons for this: MTV & VH1 no longer play music videos and when they do it is always part of some retro-remember the 80′s or 90′s thing; I no longer listen to the radio much; my music listening time is mostly spent listening to stuff I already know; and iTunes and the iPod can keep me blissfully unaware of new music. Not that I am adverse to discovering new music, but most of my avenues of doing so are limited. If I hear something new that I like I do try to listen/buy more of it, but my chances of hearing something new are statistically very low.

I have to admit that although I really liked the look of my blog I’ve wanted to try a different theme for a while. However, I must have really weird requirements when it comes to themes because it took quite a while to find one that not only did I like the look of, but that had the features I was looking for. I am using the Emerald theme from the Land of Free WordPress Themes. I hope you like it as much as I do! :)

I came across an interesting quiz (link) that lists the candidates positions on 10 issues, such as health care and immigration, and you choose to agree or disagree with these positions. It gives an interesting insight into which candidates you agree with without being blinded by the hype machine that surrounds them. For example, I only agreed 60% of the time with Obama, compared to 90% for both Clinton and Edwards. If there ever was any doubt which party I lean towards, my range for agreeing with Republican candidates was 10% – 40% whereas my range for the Democratic candidates was 60% – 90%. Interesting stuff.
