Snow

We got a lot of snow these past two days. I don’t know the official count, but I’m guessing it is between 12-18 inches. I tried to take a picture of Bella in the snow for scale, but I was too close. It’s a nice picture though…

I’m so glad we get our driveway plowed, because I think it would take me most of a day to shovel it out. Even shoveling the walk and around the cars takes a while.

I like this shot of the trees all covered with snow:

Loki likes fish

I wish I took a picture of this, it was too funny. Today I was home early so Karen could go to a meeting. At one point I went into the kitchen and saw that Gillian had been into the cats food dish. She had added a few Swedish Fish to the dish. Her explanation for giving the cats candy was “Loki is my friend. Loki likes fish.” :D

Birthday Party

Bella had her birthday party at a certain cheesy rodent’s today. It was a lot of fun, the girls had a blast. I was surprised at some of the songs Mr. Cheese and the gang decided to sing, with “Crazy”, “You Aint Seen Nothin’ Yet”, and “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” being my top 3 most bizarre songs to sing at a children’s birthday party. Actually they must have really liked BTO since they also did “Takin’ Care of Business”. Weird.
The arcade games and the suspended crawling tunnel of course were a big hit. Even some of the big kids got to play some games. Although I would categorize this as one of those things parents just do for their kids, it wasn’t so bad. And watching the girls have such a good time made it totally worth it. I even got a few pictures of Bella smiling… :D

Today Isabella turned 6 years old. I really can’t believe how fast the time has gone by. She is such an amazing child! :D
Here’s a shot of her opening a present:

Another lost tooth

Bella lost another tooth yesterday! The tooth fairy is certainly being kept busy, especially since Bella like to keep things challenging by constantly moving/hiding her tooth at night. :D

updated self portrait

I noticed that the last time I took a self portrait I was wearing the same shirt, so I couldn’t resist updating my pictures. :D
My hair is a little longer, my beard is fuller and grayer, and my face looks heavier (maybe because of the beard?). See for yourself: http://www.flickr.com/photos/christophertaverna/tags/selfportrait/

Web Project: Library of Congress Veterans History Project Interview

I recently finished the web page for Dr. Lawson‘s Interview for the Library of Congress Veterans History Project (link).

Since there is one video and it is the main content of the site I embedded the file player directly into the page, however it can also be downloaded. I always enjoy doing these web projects and continually learn new things from them.

National Debt Chart

The Los Angeles Free-Net posted an interesting chart showing how our National Debt has increased/decreased over the years. Interesting how the “conservative” Republicans are the ones who drive up our debt and the “evil” Bill Clinton reduced our debt to an amazingly low level.

Bowling

I had the chance to go bowling recently and I learned that I bowl much better left handed. Even though I am left handed I tend to do sports right handed by default. I don’t know why. But it turns out that bowling was much less strenuous left handed and I seemed to have a little more control. Not to say I suddenly got really good or anything, because I didn’t, but it did feel better.
